Stocks performance in the past one year
Looking at the best and the worst stocks of the last year
Wise men and philosophers throughout the ages have disagreed on many things, but many are in unanimous agreement on one point: "We become what we think about." The American philosopher, Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "A man is what he thinks about all day long." The Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius put it this way: "A man's life is what his thoughts make of it." We can look at a situation in a positive way or we can look at it in a negative way. The current market volatility provides opportunities and also dangers, we have to choose how to look at it.
In the last one year we have seen new waves of coronavirus, Ukraine-Russia war, interest rates rising, inflation shooting up, stocks reaching for the moon and then falling back and the list goes on. Below is the list of 40 stocks which have done very well in the past year and the ones which have performed the worst.
Best performing stocks of the past one year (from Nifty 500)
Last price as on 14 June, 2022
If you are lucky to have any one or more of the stocks from the above list, what are you going to do? Book profits? Buy more? Or don't take any action. The answer depends upon your risk appetite and financial goals.
Worst performing stocks of the past one year (from Nifty 500)
Last price as on 14 June, 2022
If you are not so lucky and have any one or more of the stocks from the above list, what are you going to do? Cut your losses? Buy more stocks as they become cheaper? The answer again depends upon your own unique situation. What is your time-horizon? Do you require cash for any other needs? Etc.
As Emerson said, “An ounce of action is worth a ton of theory.” Knowing is not enough, decide what action you have to take. Even choosing not to act is a decision.
